About Khaosok
Khao Sok National Park, located in the west of Surat Thani Province, covers an area of over 738 sq. km. Its spectacular limestone crags studded with many caves, tower over almost pristine tropical evergreen mudstone and siltstone terrain which is cut by many streams and rivers making much of the park difficult to access.
|
Khao Sok forms part of the largest continuous nature preservation area in the Thai peninsula, and also serves as the major watershed for the region. This area is an invaluable wildlife habitat especially for many large mammals which rely on large areas of undisturbed forest for their survival.
|
Khaosok National Park is considered to be a beautiful national park in Thailand. Khaosok is covered in fertile moist evergreen forests. The ground is home to many species of wildlife including gaur, serong, tiger, bear, tipir, gibbon, monkey, barking deer and many kinds of birds. Rafflesia or "Buapoot" is Thailand's largest flower and one of the world's rarest and most unusual plants. Current evidence suggests that this species is confined to southern Tenasserim Hills in Thailand's provinces of Chumpon, Ranong and Suratthani. Rafflesia blooms in a spectacular display of color and enormous size. It only blooms for 3-4 days, then turns black and shrivals away like a rotting mushroom.

Rong Ngeng Music
Rong Ngeng is the local music of the south. Born 500 years ago, when European and Asian people were trading along the South-east Asian cost, they joined and played music together. Rong Ngeng is a kind of music born from friendship.
Usaleemala is the name of our band playing Rong Ngeng music almost every night.
Koom the owner of HOMESTAY is musician and he likes to invite you to jam together. Music brings happiness and friends. So feel free to join with us and let music talk!
The name of the violin player is Maec. Everyone calls him Ajhan because he not just plays the violine very skillfull. If you need advice how to play any instrument or how to get a rythem right he is your man. Therefore he is very patient with his "students". He plays violine every day and whereever he goes he takes the violine with him. People say he has at least the same level of skill like his teacher the famous national artist Kadae Wae Dang who still plays Rong Ngeng Music.
All of you who love music are very welcome!

Food is the fuel for our body. So it is not only important what we eat but also how we preper it! Thai food is supposed to be very healthy because we use a lot of fresh vegetables, herbs and spices which have many nutritions and vitamins the body needs to be strong and remain in good condition.
Providing the body with healthy food starts already by cooking with love and awareness.
!!!Thai food has also a lot of various vegetarian dishes!!!
Details: First of all you have to choose what you want to eat and let us know 1 day before the lesson starts. For the first cooking lesson, the ingredients will be prepared in advance and you just watch and observe the basics of Thai cooking.
For the following lesson(s) you have to go to the market before, try and select the ingredients you need (we will assist you). After that you do everything on your own but we will be next to you to give some advices.
Once you are finished with cooking you will eat in Thai-style which means sharing every dish with each other. That is a perfect chance to try many different dishes at one time. Eating and sharing the food together is a big part of Thai culture.
Try and enjoy!
Not included: The ingredients you have to buy at the market.
